What we don’t do

  • We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
  • We show no advertising and do not use the Android Advertising ID (AAID) or IDFA.
  • We do not collect persistent device identifiers (IMEI, IMSI, SIM serial number).
  • We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos or SMS.
  • We do not track your location in the background.
  • We do not build any profile of your religious practice. Your notes and readings stay on your device and we cannot see them.

Permissions

Each permission is requested when you use the related feature, after a screen explaining why. You can refuse: the rest of the app keeps working.

  • Location: for “Near me” in “Find a parish”. Message shown before the request: “Bibliae uses your location to show parishes near you, only when you ask.”
  • Notifications: for the saint of the day and the prayer reminders you choose.
  • Internet: to download texts, the daily liturgy and parish information.

Sharing with third parties

We use a few service providers only to run the service. They may not use your data for their own purposes.

  • Server hosting: Vercel Inc. (United States), certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
  • Liturgical texts: AELF (api.aelf.org) and CatéGPT (categpt.chat). Only the requested date is sent.
  • Parishes: open-church.io. Addresses and geolocation: Base Adresse Nationale (api-adresse.data.gouv.fr, a French government service). Only the search text or your position at the time of the search is sent, never your identity.
  • Notifications: Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google), if you enable notifications.
  • Crash reporting tool, if used.

We may also disclose data when required by law. Where a provider is located outside the European Union, transfers are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the Data Privacy Framework.

Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS / TLS). Data saved on your device is protected by the operating system’s encryption (Android and iOS). Access to our servers is restricted to the people who need it.

Retention and deletion

Your local data (notes, highlights, progress) stays as long as you keep it. To erase everything:

  • in the app: Settings › My data › Delete all my data;
  • or uninstall the app, which removes everything it stored on the device.
  • Our server’s technical logs are deleted automatically after 30 days.

Account and account deletion

Bibliae does not require an account. If an account is added later (sync across devices), it can be deleted at any time in the app, Settings › Account › Delete my account, and from the web page bibliae.app/delete-account. All data linked to the account will be permanently deleted within 30 days; an account is never merely deactivated.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to and port your data.

To exercise these rights, email privacy@bibliae.app. We reply within one month. Since most of your data stays on your device, we do not hold it and you can delete it yourself at any time.

You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority; in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

  • Performance of the service you request: displaying texts, searching parishes.
  • Consent: location and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your phone settings.
  • Legitimate interest: service security and technical logs.

Children

Bibliae is for a general audience and is not specifically designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 15 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy, for example if a new feature uses other data. The date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes, we will inform you in the app before they apply.
